The experience of working with a group of gentlemen has been extraordinary! The week started off by getting to know each other. We each had to learn how to challenge the other positively. I've learned from the boys that dedication and hard work really does pay off. Age has nothing to do with the endless amount of possibilities. From Christopher's keen technology skills, Keon's funny personality, Andy's helpful heart, Moises open mind, Brandon's bravery to challenge everything around him, Sebastian's musical ability to make words flow, De'Shawn's determination to always have success, Joshua H.'s ability to always stay focused at all times, Joshua D.'s challenge to work harder, Omar L.'s way of being shy, yet still engaging, Omar G.'s way of always understanding when to accept failure and try again, and David's trying heart they all have grew as teams and as individuals during this program. --Shelby Green.

The Puerto Rican Blaze

Who is in your team? Our teammates are Omar L., Moises, Andy, Marcela, and Deshawn.

On Monday we build our team and started building our robot. First we had jobs building the robot so it would be faster.

Then we had specific directions and soon we build half of it soon we finished our robot. All of our members were surprised we finished fast but glad.

At first we thought we were not going to finish but we did teamwork. My team were really working hard and we were really happy we finished.

On Tuesday we had received our first challenge against other teams but this was a challenge were the robot has to follow the red line.

In this challenge nobody could help us so we had to work as a team and share ideas. Now it was time to see which did better and we came in third place. Our team was sad
Because we came in last place but we didn’t give up. The next challenge we had to try hard to win the challenge.

What did you learn this week?

To build a robot together. We were building Legos. We were programing the Lego mindstorms. We learned how to code and how to build Lego Mindstorms. Programming the Legos gave them the ability to move and make sounds. We used a color sensor to detect colors such as green, black, blue, yellow, red, and brown. We used computers in order to program. We had to learn different signals and specific, movements that we wanted it to make. We couldn’t step on the mate with our shoes so we had to take them off. The robots were able to hear us when we talked to them.

We also learned this week:
• How to program a robot,
• How to use the HTML “code” to write and simplify what I type so that other people would understand. EX. <h1> I like robots! <h1> = I like robots!
• How to understand the Code of Conduct

Would you remember a robot's name?

I would remember no robot’s name. I might remember it for 2-3 weeks, but come a month later, I don’t know it.

Code of Conduct

Within the team we learned that we couldn’t fight or argue. We had to work together and separate the task equally in order to get the robot built quickly. During break time we were able to play games and get to know each other. We created new friendships and share our ideas. After taking a break we had lunch and then we went right back to using our imaginations.

Me and my team learned from the Code of Conduct are to:
• Not use foul language
• Use good sportsmanship
• Work together
• Respect other
• Be less timid a lot often
• Not fight
• Share out ideas
• Never give up
• Include ideas and,
• Make friends!
